Another rare video: Hardcore band Deranged Diction, featuring future Green River/Mother Love Bone/Pearl Jam bassist Jeff Ament, at Metropolis, Seattle, 1983 or 1984 (video by Joe Mailloux; posted by nearSeattle84)

Half the time 90s nostalgia is 80s nostalgia in disguise.

publiccollectors:

Public Collectors joins countless other friends and allies in mourning the death of the much loved artist and activist Dara Greenwald who died on January 11, 2012 after a long battle with cancer. This silkscreen print was sent to me by Dara and her amazing life partner Josh MacPhee in January 2011 as a gift for helping them out a bit with their mounting medical expenses. It does a wonderful job of capturing Dara’s radiant spirit and energy. Work by Dara can be found all over the web. I recommend visiting her website, the website of the Justseeds Collective (Dara was a member), the Pink Bloque archive website, and this page with documentation of her work in the group Spectres of Liberty. You should also follow the Tumblr blog of Interference Archive, an initiative in Brooklyn that she and Josh just launched to help preserve materials generated out of social movements, including many items that Dara collected about feminist punk music.

Floyd Gondolli: This here's the future. Videotape tells the truth.
Jack Horner: Wait a minute. You come into my house, my party, to tell me about the future? That the future is tape, videotape, and not film? That it's amateurs and not professionals? I'm a filmmaker, which is why I will *never* make a movie on tape.

“When I turn towards you
in bed, I have a feeling
of stepping into a church
that was burned down long ago
and where only the darkness in the eyes of the icons
has remained
filled with the flames
which annihilated them.”

“The author has a troubled essaying past.”

- Taking this wonderful sentence totally out of context from a post on Flavia’s tumblr so that we an all enjoy it and think of the many, many people it applies to.

The reason it’s probably good that I probably won’t move to Seattle any time soon is because in my head this is how I picture life there, due to a few too many old Warnick family photo albums.
