recklesschants:

Towards An Insurrectionary Trans-Feminism – This zine is about trans*women and their bodies, and how they are simultaneously commodified and hated by capitalism. It’s a super-interesting topic, but I couldn’t get into the zine. This says nothing about the quality of the zine, and everything about the fact that I really can’t ever get into theory.

shit, man, 30 seconds ago I thought I was all clever with “sisterhood not cisterhood” and these fine ladies were way ahead of me. That said, can’t wait to read it.

You can get the zine via not yr cister press, which can be found at notyrcisterpress.tumblr.com.

“This spectre of rape that cis lesbian “radfems” habitually raise, centered around the supposed inherent threat of the phallus, minimizes the appalling rates of physical and sexual violence committed against trans women, particularly trans women of color and sex workers. It also twists the picture of systemic violence to make it look like trans women are a huge, systemic threat to cis lesbians when in fact trans women as a group face incredible systemic barriers in almost every aspect of life.”

I hope Barack Obama is freaking out because he thinks he might be pregnant but then he gets his period.

It’s super beautiful when it all comes together, isn’t it?

brilliantmistake:

I was looking at an article on cat phylogeny, as us nerds are wont to do (pdf), and noticed that their outgroup* was something I had never heard of - the linsang. Google didn’t provide much info besides telling me that they are adorable. How can the internet have so little intel on something so cute and so closely related to cats? They haven’t even gotten an entry on zooborns yet, much less a fuckyeahlinsangs tumblr.

They’ve also been in more recent sciencey news as part of the study looking at loss of taste senses in carnivores, aka why your cat can’t taste sweet things.

*organism that is closely related to the group you’re analyzing but isn’t actually part of the group.

These fellas need a publicist and a Smithsonian cover story!

YOU’RE GOING DOWN, MEERKATS.

“women” can definitely be an interchangeable word here, but it’s still relevant.
