Welcome to mikkipedia.net, the website for Mikki Halpin. While I curse the sky for having let mikkipedia.com lapse, have a look around.
Here's a pretty picture--it's the path to the lighthouse on Fire Island:

Mikki: That picture of Australian activism makes me think you might be interested in learning more about Lindy Morrison, the former Go-Betweens drummer, who has spent parts of decades from the ’70s to the present working for aboriginal and women’s rights issues in Australia, aside from her music career. She’s been an important and militant figure with those issues. I had the great pleasure of meeting her a couple of times in the late 80s. For a start see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lindy_Morrison
I did not know that, or if I did I have forgotten, I am going to read up on her! I am really into these protest pictures because for one thng I think people think of protesting as a kind of rare thing that doesn’t happen much, or isn’t important and this sort of pushes back on that. And this one is interesting because this woman is so gorgeous and it makes me think about who gets photographed and which photographs get circulated.
Welcome! I’m really enjoying following your blog and these issues.
Well thank you for that nice compliment as well!
